At Johnson Matthey we aim to grow our business sustainably. We use our expertise to promote the most efficient use of the world's natural resources and apply this to the way we run our facilities.
As a leader in sustainable technologies, we are proud that many of our products enhance the quality of life for millions of people around the world. Around 89% of our sales represent products and services which provide sustainable benefits through a positive impact on the environment, resource efficiency or human health.
As we enter our 3rd Century of operation, our sustainability 2017 programme will help us continue our efforts. Our commitment to sustainability within Noble Metals is highlighted in an independent case study (PDF, 212KB, opens in new tab) by the British Standards Institution.
We understand our responsibility as a supplier to:
- Protect the health and safety of our people
- Make a positive contribution to sustainable development
- Provide safe products
- Protect the environment
- Use resources efficiently
- Engage with the community.
We have a holistic view of where we source metal and do this sustainably through primary and secondary sources. We only recycle metal at our own refineries and other reputable, established refineries, which we strictly monitor to ensure the processes and emissions meet environmental standards.
We encourage our suppliers to adopt our sustainable values, best practice and ethical processes, monitoring and auditing them where appropriate.
